Seņa is the fulfilment of a shared dream between Napa Valley's Robert Mondavi and Chile's Eduardo Chadwick to produce a world-class wine that captures the essence of Chile's outstanding "terroir". They had more in common than a dream when they began their alliance in 1996 as each of them had a proven track record in terms of producing quality wines. Robert Mondavi had pioneered the transformation of the Napa Valley into a world class wine region while Eduardo Chadwick, fifth generation proprietor of Viņa Errazuriz had introduced new viticultural and winemaking techniques to the fertile vineyards first planted by his great grand-father Don Maximiano Errazuriz over a century ago.

The Aconcagua region is the home for Seņa.  This region enjoys an ideal viticultural climate of hot, dry summers, cool, rainy winters and moist Pacific Ocean breezes. In addition, this appellation is marked by dozens of distinct microclimates, affording each vineyard its own "terroir" - that unique combination of soil, climate and grape varietal that defines a wine.

Together, this team from the Americas had one goal in mind, to create a wine that would capture the essence of the grape and the spirit of the land. They selected fruit from the steep hillside vineyards surrounding Viņa Errazuriz, knowing that it would produce not only a complex wine with intense fruit flavours, but also one that would perfectly express the uniqueness of the Aconcagua Valley.

International demand for Seņa has been such that a new site for Seņa vineyards has been developed.  After three years of research and temperature analysis in different areas of the Aconcagua valley, the viticulturists and winemakers of Seņa finally settled on a parcel of land for the new Seņa site, which is now within the newly defined area in the Aconcagua Valley called Ocoa.  41km inland from the Pacific this site planted with Bordeaux varieties has the ideal viticulture climate of rainy winters and a dry growing season with long, hot summer days and cool afternoon coastal breezes.

The design of the estate has been entrusted to acclaimed architect and landscaper Juan Grimm and is an environmentally conscious development aimed at preserving the great natural beauty of this protected area.

In November 2004, Eduardo Chadwick acquired 100% ownership from Robert Mondavi.
