Over the last 10 years Chile has seen a phenomenal growth of its wine sales in the U.K. From 1.3 million cases in 1995, the U.K now imports in excess of 7.5 million cases of Chilean wine. As a category it represents around 7.6% of the Off Trade light wine market and is also growing market share in the On Trade making it a 'must have' for any restaurant or hotel wine list.

The consumer recognises Chile as offering them excellent value for money. This has been achieved through substantial investment in the vineyards and winemaking facilities in Chile. The UK market has seen the introduction of many new Chilean brands and recent trends show trading up through the significant growth in the premium sector.

Chile is often described as a winemaker's paradise, with its generally Mediterranean style climate, phylloxera free soils and minimal pest problems. It is split into various wine growing regions :- to the  North is the Aconcagua Valley followed by the Casablanca Valley - one of the coolest wine regions renowned for it's production of premium white wine and excellent Pinot Noir. Travelling South takes you to the Central Valley made up of a number of other valleys Maipo, Rapel - officially split into 2 subregions of the Colchagua and Cachapoal valleys, Maule and Curico and finally the most southern wine region in Chile, Region del Sur which includes the sub regions of Hata and Bio Bio.
