Villa Maria joined Hatch Mansfield alongside Louis Jadot and Viña Errazuriz right at the beginning in March 1994. George Fistonich founded Villa Maria Estate Ltd in Mangere, Auckland in 1961. From humble beginnings Villa Maria has grown to be New Zealand's most successful privately owned winemaking group.

In 1987 the Villa Maria Group purchased Glenvale Estate in Napier, now known as Esk Valley Estate. In the following years George repositioned this family run winery to become one of New Zealand's leading boutique wineries.   George's commitment to quality and innovation is evident in the extraordinary sucess the Villa Maria Group has recently enjoyed in a number of areas.

Esk Valley joined Hatch Mansfield's portfolio in 1995.

The most recent addition to Hatch Mansfield's New Zealand range is Vidal Wines, also part of the Villa Maria Group.

Vidal Wines is one of Hawkes Bay's oldest wineries, founded in 1905.  George acquired the business in 1976 and has steadily built up Vidal's reputation as a boutique producer of top New Zealand wines.
